The first movers will have a competitive advantage against those who do not. Now is the time for Corporate America to introduce a change management approach to build a workplace for cultural inclusion with outcomes that are both sustainable and scalable. It may address the symptom from a racial standpoint but not the underlying cultural underpinnings that are essential to affecting meaningful change. The old approaches of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as a way of integrating Corporate America falls short of the mark. The global COVID-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter have forced Corporate America to come to grips with our nation’s fundamental social contract that binds society together and their role in upholding it. Corporate America and America, more broadly, are at a cultural crossroads as a result of a “Perfect Storm” of two pandemics that are afflicting the nation.
